Group of ‘15 to 18’ caravans moves to second Horsham pitch

A group of 15 to 18 caravans has pitched up at a second site in Horsham.

Horsham District Council confirmed the travellers were pitched at Bennetts Field but have now moved to the Needles area.

Both pieces of land are owned by the council.

A spokeswoman said: “The council is working in conjunction with West Sussex County Council Gypsy and Traveller team and Sussex Police regarding this situation.

“The travellers in question have been served a Section 61 notice to leave by the police.”

This is the third time in the past year travellers have camped on the Needles playing field.

They previously moved onto the site in mid June.
