Grove students celebrateat GCSE awards evening

The class of 2010 gathered in the college’s main hall along with parents and governors to watch the guest of honour, mayor Kim Forward, present the certificates and prizes.

Lucy Dye achieved an award in English for gaining As in both her English Literature and English Language and an award for gaining a staggering 21 GCSEs (13A*s, 7As and 1B).

Cameron Lane got two awards, one for IT and the other for being an excellent ambassador to the school.

Kimberley Pearson gained an award for achieving an A* GCSE in Sociology, which she did in a year while in Year 9.

This year The Grove became the highest performing college in the county with 95 per cent of students gaining five or more A* to C grades at GCSE.

Fiona Calderbank, headteacher, said: “We are thrilled to be able to celebrate such a tremendous achievement. All credit goes to the hard work of both students and staff.”
