Hastings and Rother homeless charity gets National Lottery boost
A local charity that helps people to overcome homelessness has been given a £19,200 award.
The money will help Emmaus Hastings and Rother to fund one-to-one counselling support for the next two years. A spokesperson said: “This funding will provide up to seven hours of counselling each week for 48 weeks a year, helping people in our community access vital support for their wellbeing. “Having a safe home is the foundation for rebuilding your life after homelessness, but emotional and mental health support can be just as important. This funding will ensure Companions at Emmaus Hastings and Rother can access professional counselling when they need it most. “A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund, whose support makes funding like this possible.”
Emmaus Hastings and Rother supports 23 people who have experienced homelessness by providing them with a home, individual support and work opportunities.
A community manager is supported by a team to provide daily support, guidance and assistance to the Emmaus companions, (the name they give to their residents). Any specialist services that are required are provided by local agencies and organisations.
They have charity shop outlets across Hastings and Rother.
