Hastings couple celebrate their 77th wedding anniversary

Edward and Cynthia Swift married in Sevenoaks on April 24, 1943.

Edward, who is 97, and Cynthia, who is 96, are both living independently together at the home in Hastings.

The couple have three children, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Jade Buss, who is married to one of Edward's and Cynthia's grandsons, said: "They are a wonderful couple, with such a positive outlook on life.

"We all really wish we could be celebrating with them this year but obviously due to Covid-19 we can’t.

"Speaking to them this morning they said the weather is exactly the same as the day got married, beautiful blue sky no wind and no air raids."
