And Hastings Museum and Art Gallery have a current exhibition running to coincide with the landmark. On show are example of kit and old photos which tell the story and history of the side.
It was members of Mad Jacks Morris who first started the Jack in the Green celebrations which has now become one of the biggest annual event in Hastings.
The side was originally named Mad Jacks after local character and Squire of Brightling John ‘Mad Jack’ Fuller, who built a number of follies which can still be seen in the Battle area.
They decided to switch to RX to distance themselves from Fuller, who was said to have profited from the slave trade, and to better reflect the origins of their home base, with RX being the registration symbol of Hastings fishing boats.
Admission to Hastings Museum is free.
