Hastings town centre restaurant to close after ten years

Carib de L’Afrique has announced it will be closing its town restaurant doors on Saturday October 31.

Situated in Wellington Place, the colourful restaurant is known for helping to brighten up the town centre with its reggae music.

In a statement the restaurant owners said: The restaurant owners put out a statement to say: “To say this is an emotional moment for us is an understatement. When we opened a decade ago, we were proud to become the very first African Caribbean restaurant in Hastings Town Centre—and to our knowledge, we remain the only one to this day. “Over the last 10 years, it has been our absolute joy and privilege to serve this vibrant community, share our culture and love for flavour, and welcome so many wonderful customers who have become like family to us. “While we are closing this location, we are not going away fully. We are shifting our direction slightly and focusing on our range of artisan chilli sauces, spices, and specialty production.

"We will also be relocating our premises to support this next venture—so stay tuned to our pages as we update you on our progress and where you can find us next. “We would love nothing more than to give you a proper farewell. If you’d like to join us one last time at the restaurant to say goodbye, celebrate the last 10 years, and enjoy your favourite dishes in this location, please drop by before October 31 ”From the bottom of our hearts—a massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past decade.”
