The litter of five were born just two weeks ago when their pregnant mum, Winnie, was brought to the Blue Cross rehoming centre in Northiam, East Sussex after being found as a stray.

As election fever was starting to heat up, staff at the centre decided to name the kittens Cameron, Clegg, Ed, Nicola and Nigel after party leaders.

The kittens and their mum are now being cared for by a Blue Cross fosterer and will be ready to find new home when they are around eight weeks old.
