Horley dad creates lockdown movie with his family

Illustrator and animator Gary Andrews, 59, decided to shoot Lockdown: The Movie while in isolation with his family, who are all members of Archway Theatre Horley, as a fun way to pass the time.

Hide AdHe said he chose making a film as an activity as both his chilren love acting and he didn’t want to bake.
The movie takes viewers on an adventure through fantasy worlds including scenes shot ‘underwater’ and a chase scene involving aircraft.
Gary added: “We knew we wanted to have fantasy sequences.
“I would work out a plot line and we would sit down together and we would chat it through.”

Hide AdGary’s children Lily, 12 and Ben, nine, both star in the film which was shot using a Canon DSLR and a GoPro.
He added: “We just wanted to have a bit of fun.”
Gary made models to feature in the chase sequence and animated graphics in the fantasy scenes.
He also hosts a weekly live doodling session on Facebook.
The videos, which last between 60 and 90 minutes, are usually on Thursdays in the late afternoon or evening.
