A Gruffalo themed carnival parade included special guest, Tor Freeman, alongside Pirate Gem from CBeebies with her Swashbuckling Adventure show. Sambalanco and Raven Drummers joined in the parade to help create some noise and atmosphere.
The event enjoyed bright sunshine but strong winds meant that most of the Children’s Day activities on the Stade had to be scaled back.
There was still plenty to see and enjoy in the Stade Hall with Long Nose Puppets - 'Penguin', a colourful and musical puppet adventure inspired by Polly Dunbar's book.
Alliouagana Pearl provided Caribbean storytelling with music, rhymes and activities while Mermaid Tales introduced magical mermaids on giant seahorses.
There was a drop in workshop before the parade where children were able to create colourful Gruffalo themed pieces to wear in the parade.
