Photos have been sent to this newspaper showing families enjoying some rural fun at this year’s Findon Sheep Fair.

The event started at 10am on Saturday, September 12, at Nepcote Green in Findon Village.

Earlier in the day, the event featured a dog and sheep show, a camel demonstration and the Ben Bamboozal Magic Show, as well as pony rides, vintage cars and tractor rides. The sheep parade was planned for the afternoon and the Party on the Green was set for 7.30pm.

Events planned for Sunday, September 13, include: a picnic on the green (bring your own, 1pm) and Songs of Praise from the Salvation Army Band in conjunction with St John the Baptist Church, Findon (2.45pm).

The Sheep Fair has been running for more than 250 years but actually dates back to 1261 when a charter was first granted.

The committee behind the fair recently spoke to Findon resident Margaret Allen for a special sheep fair series on her JustSaying podcast.
