Worthing Fire Station held a fun-filled, family-friendly open day on Saturday, July 18.

The free event took place at the station on Ardsheal Road from 9am until 4pm.

It was held as Broadwater Carnival 2026 took place nearby on Broadfield Green (10am to 4pm).

Attractions included Morris dancers, a children’s play zone, fairground rides, archery and fire service demonstrations.

A message on the Broadwater Carnival Society webpage said: “As a group of local people and colleagues at Worthing Fire Station we organise an annual event on Broadwater Green and the Fire Station to raise funds for local good causes and The Fire Fighters Charity.

“We invite charities and good causes each year to be considered for a donation from funds raised. Due to the generosity of our community and sponsors we have been able to raise around £10,000 per year. On the day we have approximately 150 stalls including charities, local groups, and businesses to highlight their services. It is a great community event with local groups entertaining the crowds with various displays.

“At the Fire Station demonstrations take place highlighting safety awareness of fires, road traffic collisions and other types of rescues; we are joined by Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and other organisations.”
