Crowds flocked to the Eastbourne Extreme Roller Derby which took place over the weekend.

Eastbourne Extreme is Eastbourne's annual free Roller Derby tournament held at the basketball cage at Fisherman's Green on Eastbourne Seafront.

Run over two days, Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19, both days kicked off with rookie games at 10am and ran until 6.30pm.

The event started in 2012 and was organised by Eastbourne Roller Derby who were the local league. They group disbanded last year and now the event is run by a volunteer committee of 13 people who are all part of the roller derby community. This includes a few former members of the Eastbourne team to keep the legacy going.

This year’s event saw 200 skaters playing in 300 slots in ten games over the weekend, with skaters, officials and volunteers coming from all over the world including Germany and the USA.

This event is planned to happen again in 2027 on July 17 and 18, but organisers have stating they are waiting for confirmation from Eastbourne Borough Council on its requested dates.

If you would like to sponsor us or be involved, the organisers can been contacted via email at [email protected].
