The star encouraged fans all over the world to donate money to the 30 Songs in 30 Days project, which raises funds for the Royal British Legion home Mais House, in Bexhill.

Noah Owen raised a total of £4,100 so veterans at the home can continue to take part in meaningful activities during lockdown by being sponsored to learn and sing a brand new song every day for 30 days.

And the total has now doubled to £8,200 after being matched by the RBL Sussex county committee

Noah already attracted the attention of famous musicians when he was joined, in a video link, by Chris Difford, from Squeeze, to perform Cool for Cats. Now, Jools Holland has mentioned Noah on his Facebook page.

Noah’s dad Lee films each song and uploads it to the Mais House RBL Youtube channel, so residents could watch and sing along.

“After Jools Holland posted the video of us singing Cool for Cats with Chris Difford on his Facebook page we received so many donations and emails of support from all over the world for Noah,” said Lee, who is the head of activities at Mais House.

“We even received an email from a couple in Australia saying that they were the founder members of Noah’s Australian fan club!”

Hastings Direct also donated £500 to fundraiser and an additional £1,500 so residents could have iPads and apps to help them stay in contact with relatives and film their own life stories for family members to treasure and pass on. Lee said: “The support from Hastings Direct has been incredible. We will also be able to provide our residents with a specially designed exercise bike so they can continue to stay active and mobile.”

Local musicians The Other Band also helped raise money by performing songs with Noah.
