The generosity of their audience and supporters raised over £4,000 which made it possible to fund and fit out an ambulance which set off for Ukraine on Sunday, July 5..
Producer, Roz Bassford said “We were truly amazed at how much money we raised from donations after each performance of this year’s production of Cinderella. Clearly the cause touched many hearts. As the specially designed stickers on the side of the vehicle state “Funded by Bad Jokes, Delivered with Good Hearts” and we send the very warmest wishes with our ambulance as it makes the long journey to Ukraine and goes into service."
Ambulances for Ukraine is a non-profit organisation with a primary objective to obtain used ambulances in good condition and take them to Ukraine. The vehicles are acquired from within the EU and they are adequately equipped to fulfil their live-saving missions.
They are delivered to Ukraine by charity members and serve near front lines. When possible as much suitable first-aid material and medical supplies are provided with each vehicle.
A Lewes-based cohort has already made many journeys to the beleaguered country and will continue for as long as possible.
