The money was given by customers and staff at a Portslade garden centre.

Mayberry Garden Centre's manager, Mark Brumfitt, handed over the money to Pearl Boyce from the Adur East Lions and Lisa Dilloway from the Brighton Lions.

The money has been raised at the Old Shoreham Road garden centre over the last few months, from both their Santa's charity grotto and from book sales in the family-run business' coffee shop.
