Steve McKeown and Helen Bradshaw launched LA Soup-ers at All Saints Church in Wick on Monday, with support from Littlehampton Community Fridge, Morrisons Littlehampton community champion Alison Whitburn and local businesses.

A team of volunteers is working behind the scenes to support the initiative and they managed to get it up and running within seven days.

Steve and Helen said it was a fantastic start, thanks to the many donations, including baguettes, soup and two cauldrons.

Steve said: “Due to the current restrictions, we are aware that some families will struggle over the coming weeks, so we have decided to open a free soup kitchen to help with reducing some of the burden.

“We will be providing takeaway free soup and bread for the local community in Littlehampton when its needed most.
