Littlehampton will ‘come alive’ at this weekend’s annual bonfire celebration
The final preparations are being made for one of the biggest events in Littlehampton’s annual calendar.
Littlehampton Bonfire takes place on Saturday, October 24, featuring its annual torchlight parade with illuminated floats, traction engines, walking groups and bands
Littlehampton Bonfire Society, which organises the event said this year’s 74th annual bonfire will be the biggest parade in decades
Coles funfair is open from 2pm and there will be vendors on the green selling hot drinks and food, while bonfire societies from across East and West Sussex will travel to join in the fun

The parade winds through the town and ends up down at the East Beach Green where an enormous bonfire will be lit, followed by a huge fireworks display
The entire event is planned and organised by the bonfire society – a small group of local volunteers.
Earlier this year, it was feared the bonfire might not be able to go ahead if more volunteers weren’t found. Luckily, enough people came forward that the event can go ahead as planned, but the society is always keen to sign up new volunteers. See www.littlehamptonbonfiresociety.co.uk for more information.
Programmes are available in local shops which outline the necessary road closures, the event map and all of the timings.
The parade starts at 7.30pm, with the bonfire lighting at 9pm. The fireworks start afterwards at 9.15pm
The route is the same as last year. There are parking restrictions in place along the route, so drivers should check road signs
Any residents living in Beach Road, St Catherines and South Terrace as directly affected by the parade will be issued with parking permits.
Permits will be placed on vehicles’ windscreens prior to the event. Anyone that does not have a permit can obtain one on the day at the Baptist Church in Fitzalan Road from 9am to 4pm – proof of residency required.
The bonfire society requests that people refrain from using drones during the firework display, and asks people to give generously to allow the event to go ahead in 2027.
