His outdoor performances, in car parks and on lawns, have delighted residents who have listened and watched from windows and balconies.
Ritchie has had more than 20 years experience as a wedding singer and DJ and his repertoire ranges from 50’s swing and rock and roll to Motown.
During lockdown, he has already cheered residents at Hastings Court, on The Ridge, and more at, Earlsfield Court, Bexhill, St Bartholomew’s Court, in Rye and Grosvenor House in St Leonards.
Georgina Gamble, general manager at Hastings Court, said: “All of us enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was a real tonic for us all in these challenging times.”
Resident Jean Botting said: “It was wonderful to hear.”
Judith Cooper, activities co-ordinator at Grosvenor House, said: “It gave the residents a very enjoyable afternoon. Not only the residents but also staff and passers by.
“There were people dancing along in the Grosvenor Gardens.
“Although not so warm on the afternoon Ritchie sang, with blankets wrapped around our residents everyone enjoyed the event.”
Ritchie said: “I have loved doing it. I was left with nothing to do when all this happened and to be able to go out and do something positive in these times has been a lifeline for me.
“It has been more special to perform for residents at care homes as you can see it really lifts the mood. It has been good for staff too who have really enjoyed it.”
