Man highlights fight against litter in Hastings and St Leonards through YouTube, Facebook and Instagram
Duncan Hill has taken his fight online, setting up a dedicated YouTube channel, aptly named Mr Litter, as well as a Facebook page and Instagram account.
He uses them to post videos and pictures of some of the worst cases of discarded rubbish left on the streets of Hastings and St Leonards.

He has also been working for Tidy Up St Leonards (TUSL) for a year and a half.
The army of volunteers aims to improve the appearance of St Leonards with activities that include litter picking, cutting back vegetation, cleaning signs and woodland conservation activities.
Duncan said: “Although the YouTube channel I use for ‘Mr Litter’ was created back in 2019, my Facebook page/group about a month ago and my Instagram account around the same time, I actually changed its name to ‘Mr Litter’ and uploaded my first video nine months ago.

“I get to see the awful extent to which people litter and as time goes by.”
Duncan said he believed the younger generation were becoming more prone to dropping litter in the street and that abandoned buildings in town were hotspots for discarded rubbish.
He added: “People also are becoming far more lazy to either walk to a public bin to dispose of their rubbish or walk two to three minutes to a community bin. I can understand not everyone will have a community bin but people could always ask other neighbours to use their bins or just wait till bin days to dispose of their bags.
“Recycling is another option for people to help.

My journey to setting up a YouTube channel started when I was saw a body camera in the shop and it got me thinking about sharing my videos on YouTube, and from there it led to more than 400 subscribers. I now have my own YouTube hi-vis jack for the channel as well.”
