Mothers’ Union said its global day of action was held on Saturday, November 26, to shine a light on the fact that one in three women globally are victims of violence and abuse.

Mothers’ Union’s provincial president Kathryn Anderson said: “Mothers’ Union members and church family from several local churches stood around the path around All Saints’ Church, Grange Road, for the minute’s silence at 1.03pm. Our Vicar, James, who is a Mothers’ Union member, was with us outside and for the service back in the centre afterwards.”

The Christian organisation, which supports families all over the world, said local members took part in the service and had lunch afterwards.

The provincial president added: “All Saints’ branch members provided soup for everyone. We had a monetary collection for the local refuge.”
