National Lottery: Sussex man wins Set For Life game and will receive £10,000 a month for a year
A retired man from Sussex will receive £10,000 a month for a year, after winning the National Lottery’s Set For Life game.
The Brighton retiree – who matched five numbers on July 28, 2025 – has been kept anonymous by the National Lottery.
“After always playing a lucky dip for each Set For Life game online, his persistence finally paid off as he landed a prize,” a spokesperson for Allwyn – operator of The National Lottery – said.
"Upon realising that he had won, the lucky man was in ‘complete shock’, adding that the life-changing money will set him ‘up for retirement’.

"He plans to share his winnings with his family and loved ones.”
Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, congratulated the Brighton-based prize winner.
He said: “What a wonderful moment this is for our winner. We know how much it means for Set for Life winners to receive a huge £10,000 each month and this man’s patience certainly paid off. We sincerely hope that they relish this moment and enjoy the financial freedom this brings – huge congratulations.”
Allwyn said playing any National Lottery game is ‘more than just a chance to win’.
"It’s a way to contribute to something much bigger,” the spokesperson added.
“Each week, players help generate around £32M for National Lottery-funded projects. With over £52BN raised for Good Causes since launch, this funds hundreds of projects in every postcode area across the UK.
“Players can buy and check their tickets online by downloading the National Lottery app or at national-lottery.co.uk. Players can also buy and check tickets in retail. Playing online via the app or website means that your ticket is checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize.
"You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you're a winner.”
