New Bexhill inclusive play area opens

A new inclusive play area in Bexhill officially opened on Friday (October 16).

The town's deputy mayor, Paul Peters, opened the Pebsham Inclusive Play Area with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

A spokesperson for Bexhill Town Council said: “Thank you to everybody who braved the elements to celebrate the opening of our brand new inclusive play area in Seabourne Road Recreation Ground.

“Despite the challenging conditions, we were delighted to see the park being used and enjoyed by some of Pebsham's younger residents.

“Thank you to our contractors eibe play Ltd, as well as Rother District Council, who have provided funds through the Community Infrastructure Levy Fund (CIL) scheme.”

The council said work on the site began on August 10 and concluded this week.

The spokesperson added: “Alongside the standard features of a play area, there are more inclusive aspects, including an accessible trampoline, a wheelchair swing, and opportunities to learn the alphabet in sign language and braille. The area measures approximately 20m x 25m, holds around 45 people, and is intended for use by ages 2-12.”
