A spokesman said: “The new store aims to bring Dunelm highlights, that have been handpicked by Dunelm’s design team and local customers in focus groups, to create a ‘Crawley Edit’ on the high street.”

The store will have ‘live, eat and sleep’ zones along with interactive digital content and augmented reality.

The town’s branch was first due to open on April 2 but it was delayed as Dunelm closed its stores.

All Dunelm stores, including the Horsham branch, have now reopened.

The spokesman added: “At the start of May, the government approved the reopening of homeware stores, but Dunelm waited until they felt ready and confident in their safety measures.

“After much planning and preparation, and enlisting the help of experts from the NHS, Government and Trading Standards, Dunelm has safely begun to reopen their stores.

“Dunelm ‘Edit’ will have strict guidelines to ensure social distancing and hygiene practices are maintained.

“These guidelines include a limit on the number of people in the store, enhanced cleaning regimes in all areas, and protective equipment provided for all colleagues.”

Jemma Williams, director of business development, said: “We are excited to open this high street store and offer our same great product, at the same great prices.

“We have taken the best of what we do over the past 40 years and listened to what our customers want, to create this smaller format and share what we hope will be welcome Dunelm Highlights on the Crawley High Street.”
