Taking shape, in the area adjacent to the boating lake on the seafront, is what looks to be a large swingboat in the shape of a pirate galleon.

The attraction, when it eventually opens, would be in keeping with local people’s love of pirates, reflected in the annual Hastings Pirate Day in July which sees hundreds of people of all ages dressing up as pirates for the day.

Sadly this year’s Pirate Day has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

A big wheel, which returned to the seafront earlier this year, has also been out of action due to the restrictions surrounding the outbreak.

Trains were being tested on the Hastings miniature railway last week and owner Dan Radcliffe has been busy during the lockdown carrying out work on the miniature steam engines in his back garden.
