Parking wardens in Eastbourne

The wardens have been noticeably absent patrolling the streets to enforce parking restrictions since the coronavirus pandemic broke out in March.

But today (Wednesday) a spokesperson at East Sussex County Council, which runs the parking scheme, said the wardens were upping their presence.

The spokesperson said, “Throughout the pandemic, enforcement officers have been out on the streets to ensure people park safely and sensibly, reducing congestion and maintaining public access to key services.

“With a change in government guidance we expect to see more cars on the road. Civil enforcement officers are necessary to manage traffic flow and the parking bays and we will be increasing our presence, with enforcement officers ensuring they maintain social distancing to protect staff and residents. As people begin to travel around the county more, we would urge motorists to park safely and considerately and adhere to parking restrictions.”
