Sue and John Price have decorated their house in St Peter’s Road once again to raise money for Court Meadow Group Riding for the Disabled (RDA).
This is the 31st year the couple have put up the display to help a Sussex charity and it features between 70,000 and 80,000 lights.
Sue said: “We started decorating the last week of October and we finished it just under a week ago. We actually lit it up last Friday (November 28) for the first time.”
Among the many sights in this year’s display are sledges with reindeer, a new penguin and a new tree. Sue said she and John have used coloured lights on the house as well so the overall effect is more vibrant. There are new coloured lights moving along the ground too that children can chase. The garage is also decorated.
Sue said: “We’ve had a lot of good responses from people so far saying how lovely it is, and you get quite a shock when you come around the corner to see it.”
Sue and John are now welcoming families to come along and take photos.
Founded in 1977, Court Meadow Group RDA is organised by volunteers and funded by donations. It supplies all the riding equipment that children need and is free to all kids with special needs from ages three to 19. Sue is a volunteer for the group, which she says is highly beneficial to the children who come along. The group is at Tremaines Riding Stables, Treemans Road, Horsted Keynes. Visit www.courtmeadow-rda.org.uk to find out more.
The Christmas lights at Sue and John’s house will be on from 4.30pm to 9pm until Twelfth Night (Monday, January 5, 2026). People can donate at the display’s collection box and there is a QR code.
