Photos show 80 metre ship stuck at Littlehampton Harbour

First in the Suez Canal and now in Littlehampton: a large ship has got stuck near the harbour entrance.

The 80 metre vessel, which is called Elise, drifted out into the river after one of its mooring lines parted in the early hours of the morning, according to a Littlehampton Harbour spokesman.

It was then secured and the ship is currently ‘safely grounded’, the spokesman confirmed.

The vessel will refloat when the tides rises – read our original story here.

The spokesman said the river was still open for navigation all morning, as there was sufficient space to navigate between the vessel and the west bank.

However there has now been a short closure as the tide changes.

A spokesman confirmed the river would be back open soon and that all harbour users were being regularly updated.
