Organisers said they worked with Lemn Sissay on this year’s festival with the ‘new normal’ in mind.
A spokesman added: “We believe we can deliver a festival in a safe and responsible way, that will give audiences something to look forward to and build confidence for future events.
“We have been working closely with our funding partners, Arts Council England and Brighton & Hove City Council, along with generous supporters, patrons and sponsors to ensure the Festival can support the city’s badly-needed economic recovery and provide opportunities for the many artists and freelance creatives who have been affected over the last year.”
The festival began on May 1 and is due to run throughout this month.
