People arrived at the seafront to cool off as temperatures climbed to a sizzling 28°C.

Revellers were seen sunbathing, kayaking, swimming or simply strolling along the promenade.

The Met Office has put an amber weather warning of ‘extreme heat’ in place this weekend.

People going outside are advised to drink plenty of water and apply a high factor sun cream regularly.
