Police at scene of controlled explosion in Bexhill

A controlled explosion has taken place in Bexhill.

Police said officers are at the scene of the incident which happened in Little Common, Bexhill.

A spokesman described the 'loud bang' was mortar shell detonated by the Royal Logistic Corp at Little Common Recreation Ground.

Police said the shell was found by a builder under a patio in Collington.

Police are on scene and assisting, the spokesman added.
