Family and friends joined Edith for an afternoon of tea and cakes in celebration of her big birthday.

Edith has seen much change during her life which started in Portsmouth, where she spent her childhood. Moving to Midhurst when she married and brought up her six children, her best memories of this time were the beach holidays which they always enjoyed. Edith remembers: “Having the coast on the doorstep was wonderful. We loved our family beach holidays.”

Hillside Lodge care home has been home for Edith for just over a year and she is still able to remain independent and make informed choices about her everyday life despite living with a dementia.

Edith lives there with 60 other residents needing full-time care, offering single en-suite rooms to people with residential and/or nursing needs.

The home is one of thirteen services owned and operated by leading national provider Shaw healthcare throughout West Sussex.

Edith still enjoys watching soaps on the TV and still loves pampering, enjoying having her hair done each week and nails painted regularly.
