Radio DJ helps Horsham boy unveil Christmas lights

A huge crowd of onlookers turned out to see the display, organised by Theo Comber, who decorated his Rushams Road home with lights he had bought himself.

Radio and television personality ‘Diddy’ David Hamilton led a countdown before the lights were turned on, while a local choir and snow machine added to the seasonal spirit.

Theo said: “I thought there would be lots of people here but there is a lot more than I was expecting.

“I was a bit nervous switching them on - we haven’t got the highest tech sound system so I couldn’t hear David and had to think about when to turn them on.

“People enjoyed it so I think it went really well.”

David, 76, who lives near Billingshurst, added: “There is a lovely Christmas spirit and Theo’s lights are stunning.

“It is a very community thing and I think this is what Horsham is all about.”

“I think Christmas begins here. Theo has done a superb job - I’m just his assistant.”

A charity raffle was also held in aid of the National Autistic Society.
