Runners from across Horsham district finish Brighton Marathon


Rob Roberts, 70, a recovering alcoholic, proudly showed off his medal in the County Times’ office after running the marathon in 4 hours 49 minutes.
Rob has raised more than £1000 for Horsham-based charity, The Ark.

Marton Tajti from Five Oaks ran his first ever marathon, in support of Ingfield Manor School.
He works with children with complex disabilities at the school.

Two members of staff at Valerie Manor care home ran the marathon for St Barnabas House. Alan and Linda trained hard for the event and were supported by residents at Valerie Manor.

Tracey Prescott of Henfield had a double celebration on Sunday - completing her first marathon on her 49th birthday.

Hide AdDespite suffering a back problem at mile 18 she completed the run in 5hrs 38secs, raising more than £1,600 for Macmillan Cancer Care.
Tracey was running in support of friend Gary Dunk who has been undergoing cancer treatment.

Six members of Mel’s Milers jogging club completed the marathon.
Leading the club and achieving a personal best (PB), Catherine Low finished in a time of 3hrs 47mins, followed minutes behind by Sue Endacott, who also achieved a PB of 3hrs:50mins.

Hide AdAlistair Fitzgerald, who recently celebrated his 50th birthday, completed the course in 3hrs 55mins, followed seconds behind by Sharon Frankland, in 3hrs 55mins.
Rick Duffy finished the course in 4hrs 9mins and Pippa McAteer adhered to her vigorous training programme to ensure she achieved her PB of 4hrs 39mins.
