Security to be enhanced after Hastings museum break-in

Hastings Museum and Art Gallery suffered a break-in during the early hours of Sunday.

The museum was closed after the break-in but is now open again today (August 16).

A Hastings Borough Council spokesperson said: “Sadly, a small quantity of money and some items from the shop were taken. Nothing from the collection was stolen. We are enhancing security with immediate effect.”

A spokesperson for Sussex Police added: “We understand that a break-in took place at the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery in Bohemia Road in the early hours of Sunday, August 14, but information has not yet been received about what, if anything, was stolen.”
