Ship of Gold shine through to win Horsham Battle of the Bands

Phrase Mob and Troubled Minds rounded out the top three in the competition, organised by the Horsham District Live Music Alliance and contested by eight Sussex bands.

Gareth from Ship of Gold said: “It’s always a pleasure to play the Battle of the Bands due to the fantastic organisation and tireless work of all involved.

“The opportunity to showcase your music in front of an audience who may not necessarily come along to a ‘normal’ gig is priceless in itself, and it’s an honour to have been judged the best band on the night.

“We hope everyone who came along had as good a night as we did, and thank the volunteers who gave their time to set up and run the night - the HDLMA for their continuing devotion to the Horsham music scene and the other bands without whom there would have been no competition.”

The competition has become a tradition in Horsham over its 20-year history.

The winning band were presented with the revered Graham Ansell Trophy, a cheque for £500, a day to be spent in a recording studio, two free rehearsals at QM Studios and other prizes.

Phrase Mob received a cheque for £250 and two free rehearsals at QM Studios.

And Troubled Minds earned a £50 cheque and one free rehearsal at QM Studios.

The other bands to perform on the night were FLOK, The Logical Hairs, Fruitcake, Inertia and The Venus Complex.
