In a statement, released today, Parish council chairman, Mrs Anna Worthington-Leese said: “The Parish Council is saddened to hear of the death of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh on April 9 2021.
“Prince Philip was a much loved and highly respected public figure and our sincere condolences are extended to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family.”
The flags in the Parish will be lowered to half-mast for the official period of mourning, Mrs Worthington-Leese added.
She said: “Due to the Covid-19 guidance and restrictions, it will not be possible to open the Parish Hall for the public to sign a book of condolence.
“On online book of condolence has been opened on Buckingham Palace’s website: www.Royal.uk
“Residents who do not have online access can send a message of condolence to the Parish Office where it will be uploaded for you.”
