Tamil Learning Centre Crawley celebrates Festival of Education and achievements of inspiring figure

Festival of Education is associated with Navaratri, a traditional nine-night festival celebrating devotion, knowledge and the arts.

As part of the festival, the centre celebrated three days of Saraswathi Pooja, honouring Saraswathi, the goddess of knowledge, learning, music and the arts.

These celebrations reflect the belief that education is a lifelong journey and that knowledge plays an important role in personal growth and the development of society.

The event on October 17 also celebrated Navi Pillay, the distinguished South African jurist of Tamil heritage who served as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2008 to 2014. She also served as president of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.

Her distinguished career in international justice and human rights demonstrates how education, perseverance and dedication can help make a lasting contribution to humanity.

Her achievements provide an inspiring example for young people, reminding them that learning can open doors to opportunity and enable individuals to make a positive difference in the world.

The centre was proud to celebrate her contribution and share her inspiring story alongside its Festival of Education celebrations.

Through this event, Tamil Learning Centre Crawley highlighted the importance of education, the preservation of Tamil heritage and the recognition of individuals whose achievements inspire future generations.

The celebration also offered an opportunity to share Tamil traditions and positive educational values with the wider Crawley community.
