'The most courageous and caring person I have ever met' – tributes to popular Eastbourne builder Sean Foley

A popular Eastbourne builder who was left with life-changing injuries after a trampoline accident has died, his family has confirmed.

Sean Foley, who leaves his partner Daniella Watson and their two daughters, broke his neck and severely damaged his spine in the accident on May, 16, 2020.

Family and friends launched a fundraising appeal to help pay for private physio sessions as well as adaptations to his home in Old Town, so that after a long spell in hospital he was able to return home to his family.

Sadly on August 21, 2026, Sean passed away.

Daniella said: “He was the most courageous and caring person I have ever met, 22 years together and our beautiful angels, it still feels so unfair. He had battled sepsis eight times but was always positive.

“It’s so hard to describe someone who was everything to me and the girls. He was the love of our life.”

Sean’s funeral will be at Wealden Crematorium on Wednesday, 16, September at 2pm. People are being asked to wear colours, not black. Family flowers only, but donations can be made to St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

Sean’s coffin will be walked past The Lamb pub and what was The Prince Albert pub in High Street at about 1pm for people wanting to pay their respects.

This is where Sean and Daniella’s love story begun, she explained. Sean’s wake will also be held at The Lamb pub.
