Owen, 16, left his house in Saltdean at just after 6pm on Thursday, March 26, and is known to have headed towards the A259 coast road between Brighton and Newhaven.

Working with Brighton and Hove Buses to view footage from a number of services, Sussex Police has now identified four people who were around at that time and who may hold vital clues concerning his whereabouts.

“The pedestrian was at the junction of Bannings Vale and the A259 at 6.17pm and the two cyclists were both travelling east between 6.17 and 6.18pm.”

Detective Inspector Mark Rosser said: “This is probably the last line of enquiry that we have in our investigation.

“Our searches have extended along the coastline as far east as Dungeness in Kent and following the advice of an oceanographer from the University of Southampton, we have also alerted colleagues across the Channel.
