On behalf of members, Newick's Parish Clerk notes the application has now gone to appeal following Lewes District Council's decision to refuse the scheme.
Councillors say an appeal does not mean that the development will be approved. The planning Inspectorate, they add, will now consider the case and decide whether permission should be granted.
Their comments, detailed in full on the Newick Talk Facebook page, notes the strength of local opposition was clear when the original application received 1,075 objections; 'An unprecedented level of response for Newick.'
And members now want to make sure that residents remain informed and that concerns raised continue to be properly represented during the appeal.
In particular, they say, the issues around traffic and road safety, pressure on schools and healthcare, drainage and flooding, sewage and water infrastructure, landscape and the loss of productive countryside remain important considerations.
The council plans to provide information as soon as the appeal timetable and arrangements for representations are confirmed. They encourage everyone who cares about the future of Newick to stay engaged and be prepared to oppose this application for housing.
Once these details are known they will be shared on Newick Talk, the planning section of the Parish Council website (https://newickparishcouncil.gov.uk/parish-council/newick-parish-council-planning) and the September Newick Parish Council newsletter.
"This is another stage in the process, not the end of the campaign" they assure residents.
