Tributes paid to Eastbourne’s Sabrina Cooper - niece of comedian Tommy Cooper

Tributes have been paid to a woman from Eastbourne who was found dead.

Sussex Police said officers and paramedics were called to a property in Connaught Road about 6.45pm on Sunday (December 18) due to concerns for the welfare of a woman who was found dead at the scene.

She has been identified as 68-year-old Sabrina Cooper from Eastbourne.

A man has been charged with murder. Tony King, 59, of Cornfield Terrace in Eastbourne, has been remanded in custody and will appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court today (December 21).

Ms Cooper - the niece of world-famous magician and comedian Tommy Cooper - owned Cooper’s Magic Shop in Cornfield Road until it closed in 2017.

People paid tribute to her on the Eastbourne Herald’s Facebook page.

Emma Ayling said: “Kind lady, always remember her fancy dress shop . Very helpful. So sad.”

Carlene Jones wrote: “My partner worked for her in the shop. Lovely lady such a shame.”

Maria Cassidy added: “Such a sad end of a lovely lady's life I will always remember our chats when she was out with her lovely little dogs.”
