Tributes paid to 'hugely popular' Hastings man after his death

Clive Williams died on Friday (May 1) at the age of 59 after a four-year battle with prostate cancer.

His daughter Sara Williams, who lives in the town, described her father - a former nightclub worker and taxi driver - as 'hugely popular'.

In 2016, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and a year later moved to Middlesborough - where he will be buried.

Paying tribute to her father, Sara added: "He was very positive right up until the day he passed. He fought so hard. My dad was a very strong man.

"Hearing that he had cancer in the first place was absolutely shocking because he was always so strong that it was just totally unexpected."

Clive moved to Hastings from Birmingham at the age of 16.

He was well known for boxing at the West Hill club and made some great friends which Sara said he kept until the day he died.

He worked for many years down at the local nightclubs and also as a taxi driver - first starting at Phoenix then Alpha, Carmiles and finally 24/7.

He leaves behind four children - Paul, Sara, Charlotte and Georgina.

Sara added: "He was such a big character, larger-than-life, heart of gold and a bit of a prankster.

"He was a bit of a rogue in his early 20s but he was such a brilliant dad - he really was.

“He will be dearly missed by his children, his mum, brothers and sister, and all his friends that love him dearly.”
