Mark Spindler died on Wednesday, January 15, at the age of 67.

Mark had been married to his wife Mary-Ann for 25 years.

Mark leaves behind two children from his first marriage, Matthew and Karen, and his two step-children, Amy and Tom.

Between them, Mark and Mary-Ann had ten grandchildren to whom he was known as Grandad and Popsie.

Mary-Ann said: “He was a large man in spirit as well as body and he loved Bognor Regis.

“He was the most generous and kind man you could ever wish to meet. He would give up his time for anybody — he was caring with a very big heart.”

Mark opened his first electrical shop when he was just 19 and was based outside the old railway station on the corner of Linden Road.

Mary-Ann added: “He absolutely loved it and he was very, very well known in the area and we made a very good life out of it.”

Mark was also a member of Bognor Regis Round Table and was a member of the Bognor Regis Illuminations committee before he and Mary-Ann got together in 1994.

Mark died from a tumour which was found by doctors after he started feeling a pain in his pelvis.

Years before, while Mark was working on some lights on the high street, he was knocked from his cherry-picker and fell to the floor.

He suffered from a fractured pelvis and did ‘a lot of damage to the area’, according to Mary-Ann.

She said he had struggled with the pain from then on.

He had an operation in October last year to try and ease the pain when surgeons came across the cancerous lump.

A funeral service will be held at Worthing Crematorium, Kingswood Chapel, on Friday, February 7, at 1pm.

His loved ones have asked only for family flowers but said, if desired, donations can be made to St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
