Selsey Town Council extended its ‘heartfelt thanks’ to everyone who ‘joined us for the remembrance service and parade’, in the Chichester district town, on Sunday (November 9).
“Your support and participation made the occasion truly special and a fitting tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our country,” a council social media post read.
"A sincere thank you to all the serving and ex-serving personnel, community organisations, and volunteers who took part.
"Particular thanks go to parade marshal Gareth Parsons, poppy appeal organiser Ashley Pledger, Selsey Lions, TS Sturdy, and Cloud 9 for their invaluable contributions to the day.
“Your dedication and community spirit embody the very best of Selsey. Thank you for helping us honour and remember together.”
This year marks 80 years since the end of World War II.
Selsey Town Council also posted a poignant message on social media on Armistice Day – which marks the end of the First World War in 1918.
"At the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we observe a two-minute silence to honour all those who made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives in service to their country since 1914,” the council wrote.
"During this time, council staff will pause their duties, including answering phones, as they join in the silence. We will remember them.”
