Two images taken in the Sussex countryside came out on top as Storrington Camera Club held its delayed ‘Best of Year’ competition to complete its 2019/20 season.

With current restrictions, the club has moved online using Zoom which has allowed the club to put an end to outstanding competitions.

Judge for the evening of this final competition was Paul O’Toole, and this year both the winning print and projected images prove that you do not have to travel far to find top scoring images as both were captured in the county.

After his initial review, Paul ended up with two images for the print category selection.

These being ‘Always Alert’ by Kevin Harwood and ‘Frosty Bramber Tree’ by Martin Tomes, the latter Paul also selected as ‘Print of the Year’.

He then moved on to ‘Projected Image of the Year’. After a final review Paul short-listed three images: ‘Orangutan’ by David Seddon, ‘Jackal Patiently Waiting’ by Anne Nagle and ‘Dewpond on Misty Morning’ by Dean Sephton. He selected ‘Dewpond on Misty Morning’, an image taken by Dean at Ditchling which Paul felt stood out and was a landscape scene caught at the perfect time.

Unlike some clubs which have made the decision to only hold Projected Image competitions, Storrington Camera Club will hold both print and projected image competitions in 2020/21.
