“U3a is a great way to meet new people”: MP meets with Newhaven and Peacehaven group
The MP has praised Newhaven and Peacehaven’s University of the Third Age (U3a) group for offering ‘something for everyone’.
Maria Caulfield met with members of the group to celebrate U3a day on June 2 and see their window display on Newhaven High Street.
The display highlighted many of the activities the local group run for people in the area, which include singing, bridge, photography, ukulele lessons and book club.
Founded more than 35 years ago, the UK U3a movement aims to encourage people to come together and continue their enjoyment of learning in subjects of interest to them after they retire.
The movement now includes more than 400,000 members.
Ms Caulfield said: “U3a is a great way to meet new people and learn new skills and with a range of sessions from book clubs to art classes there is something for everyone”.
