Village Hall bursts into life as East Preston & Kingston Horticultural Society’s spring show fills it with colours and scents

East Preston & Kingston Horticultural Society’s annual spring show burst into life, filling the Village Hall’s Miller Barn with colour, scent and a touch of friendly rivalry.

There were 20 competitors setting out their finest flowers, vegetables and home-baked creations, creating a display that delighted visitors throughout the afternoon on Saturday, April 11.

Show secretary Simon Smith was delighted with the standard of entries and the public seemed just as impressed.

Pauline McLelland won the Spring Cup for best flower exhibit and the Tulip Cup for best tulip, John Cole won the Kenyon Cup for most points in flower classes and the Molly Secretan Cup for best miniature daffodil, and Diana Buckley won the Spring Bowl for cookery.

Other first prize winners were Colin Crane, Carol Longman, Sue Young, Valerie Sharp, Sue Spinner, Steve Spinner, Sarah Hill, Caroline Frake, John Frake, Primrose Buckley, Celia Buckley, Jennifer Wallace and Peter Jenkins.

The next show will be the rose show on June 20, also in the Miller Barn. Pick up a schedule to see details of all the classes you can enter in that or in the summer show on August 1. Schedules are available at Dizzy in Sea Road, or by ringing 01903 782191.
