Tributes were paid today to a former Stagecoach South bus driver who sadly passed away from cancer.

Mark White was highly-regarded as a member of the Stagecoach team in Worthing, where he worked for five years.

Staff at the Worthing depot applauded as the funeral hearse drove past the depot on the seafront around 1pm.

Mark started as a driver in Chichester in August 2014 and passed his PCV test in September that year. He then transferred to be based at Worthing.

In 2019, two of his colleagues, Nikki Hombuckle and Barry Cook, took part in Brave the Shave to raise funds to go towards his treatment and for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which was supporting him.

Mark never gave up and even returned to work twice during his treatment but sadly lost his two-year battle with cancer earlier this month.

Colin Stratford, assistant operations manager, said: “Our deepest sympathies go out to Mark’s family, friends and colleagues and our thoughts are with them during this upsetting time.

“As a depot we are celebrating Mark’s memory by naming a bus after our esteemed colleague.”

The tribute bus can be seen on the Pulse route between Lancing and Durrington.
