Worthing friends on 24-hour walk in Speedos for Look Sussex

The friends are walking for 24 hours, having started at the Cissbury Ring car park in Nepcote yesterday evening.

James Donlevy, Sean Goulding, Dan Geal, Luke Ramsey, George Meyer, Joel Parsons, Harry Latos, Oli Williams, William Haynes, Joe Healy, Joe Baker, Alex Norman, Jake Casali were sent on their way by family and representatives of Look Sussex, a small local charity that provides activities and days out for children with a visual impairment and support for their families.

Sean said: “A large group of my friends and I will transcend the South Downs for a 24-hour walk, starting on Monday at 8pm.

“We are hiking and jogging in Speedos for Look Sussex because it’s an amazing charity, close to our hearts.”

The pals have already raised £1,159, having set a target of £350.

They had been due to take part in Rough Runner London South in April but had to postpone their fundraising due to the coronavirus outbreak.

James’ cousin, Lucy Croke, has benefited from the support of Look Sussex, having been born with coloboma, and her mum, Cara Croke, is now a trustee of the charity.

Lucy is a student at The Angmering School and Cara describes her condition as cleft palate of the eye.

The family became involved with Look Sussex about five years ago and Cara says it has changed her life, and Lucy’s, and adds that although it is a very small charity, it helps a lot of people.
