Worthing Heat Network construction to resume this month
Construction on the Worthing Heat Network is set to resume in ‘early September’.
The Worthing Heat Network is designed to provide low-carbon heating and hot water to key buildings across the town.
It is already supplying several public buildings including Worthing Town Hall, the Assembly Hall, Worthing Museum and Art Gallery, Portland House and the Connaught Theatre.
The scheme’s previous phase of works in Marine Parade closed ‘two small sections’ of the promenade and ‘around 30’ parking bays from mid-June to mid-July.

Hemiko has now confirmed a ‘short programme of works’ will take place ‘from early September until October Half Term’.
A spokesperson for the Worthing Heat Network said: “This phase will build the western arm of the network towards the Pavilion Theatre, helping extend the benefits of low-carbon, reliable heat to more of the town.
“For this phase, we’ll be using underground drilling beneath Brighton Road and Marine Parade, which means traffic can continue to flow as normal while this part of the network is installed.
“We’ve also planned this programme around the local events calendar, taking care to protect key events including the Food and Drink Festival and Night to Remember, and making sure the works are completed well ahead of Bonfire Night.
“It’s a shorter period of work, carefully planned to minimise disruption and keep Worthing’s busy autumn calendar moving. Thank you to residents, businesses, and visitors for your continued support as we build the next stage of the network.
“Further works will be required on other sections of the Worthing Heat Network later in the year. These activities will be planned with Christmas trade in mind, and we will provide further information on locations, timings, and traffic management arrangements well in advance of this commencing.”
Hemiko has also invited the community to meet the team at a drop-in session on Friday, September 4, from 12pm to 3pm.
The session will take place upstairs at Coast Cafe.
